Mark 11:12-14…..please read

Hey friend, I’m happy you could join us today. I believe you are doing great.

Today’s post is basically about every other christian………the story of Jesus and the fig tree, pause for a minute. I must confess I used to be one of those people that wondered why Jesus cursed the tree because he couldn’t find a single fruit on it to satisfy his hunger, I mean you can easily look at this and conclude that Jesus was an hungry man and was upset the tree only ‘looked good to the eye‘ but let me put it to you that His amazing ways are different from our ways and his thoughts are certainly high above ours.

Now, it was recorded that Jesus saw the tree from afar and went close to it. Just like that fig tree, a lot of Christians look good and appealing to the world and often times they attract heaven’s scrutiny; you know leaves all green and lush something like speaking in tongues and knowing more than three passages of the scripture without consulting the bible but that’s just about it, that’s all they are words but no depth, leaves but no fruits. I should warn us, be careful of what you are building up, because sometimes we overlook simple things and think it is cool to be a certain way but heaven knows and heaven is recording, I pray for you today, that your roots grow deep in God, amen.

Jesus came to the tree and couldn’t find a single fruit on itI can only imagine the frustration He must have felt like why? You looking all promising and beautiful but coming closer there really isn’t much to you. Thing is a lot of people around are dependent on the fruits you bear, be it peace, love, joy, any God glorifying fruit you bear is very needed for a particular generation so you my dear cannot afford to be without fruits.

Leaves soon dry up and wither and in no time the tree is left emptier than it was before, and I’m pretty sure certain theologians are raising an eyebrow and saying ‘oh but it wasn’t the season of the figs’ as recorded in the scriptures, now I know it was recorded so that we can question things but more importantly it was recorded to show us that we Christians don’t work with the ‘world’s’ seasons and times, we function with God’s calendar and at every point we are to be found bearing fruits, our salvation was not seasonal so the working thereof is not to be seasonal. I bet you Jesus didn’t even have to curse the tree before reality hits and all the leaves get blown away by the wind. You should not settle for the looks or similitude of the true christian, if you have been living your christian life as such there’s time to  change and bear fruits before heavens come down to inspect.

There’s only so much you can do as a tree with leaves, but throw in some fruit bearing coupled with roots deep down in God and watch how lives will be blessed through you even the heavens will rain down on you and you are able to bear so much more for the glory of God. The word of God says to us and I paraphrase that “we are the light of the world…..” we don’t get to deceive people by gathering leaves and not bearing fruits, we amongst all trees bear the sweetest fruit and sustain the world till the kingdom come.

Matthew 3:10 (please read) explains this well, I pray in the name of Jesus that we will be fruit bearing trees, and not just fruit but good and God-glorifying fruits, amen.

Grace and Peace
